Case Closed!

I stayed up late last night. I had every intention to go to bed early too. After the girls were tucked into bed Hubby put the cricket on and I sat down to sew. I was kindly offered a cup of coffee and against my instincts I said yes (I'm a tea girl). Well, i was up for hours!

When i finally decided to toddle off to bed I could hear some noises. I took a look out my front door and here it was........

I've been wondering what was happening to my nectarines out the front! The parrots have taken most of my orchard's fruit out the back but the tree out the front has been untouched until a few nights ago. The photos are awful I know. I'm blaming the screen door (and my haziness).

Can i also just mention what a grubby eater it was? Slurping, sucking, burping (yes it did) and at the end of it's meal the seed was just thrown on the verandah floor! No manners at all! I had a look this morning at the aftermath and it's not pretty. Possum poop everywhere!

I suspect it's a member of the possum family that's residing in my studio roof. They come out every night and scamper across the tin roof. They're very noisy and they drive Obi up the wall but I can't help but love them. I'm a sucker for anything cute and fluffy.

I hope you all have a nice weekend......I'm off to clean up after my little fiend *ahem* I mean friend!

Time for some new headpieces

I'm pulling out my roses, hydrangeas, lace, beads and dye to start a new range of headpieces for brides. I haven't made these for a while and I'm excited to get back into it. I've got some new lovely trims that i can't wait to use!

P.S My tweets are just waiting for their legs (I ran out of wire and living where i do it takes a while to get resources) I promise it won't take too long until they're in the shop. They are looking GORGEOUS.....even if I do say so myself :)

In the mean time HEADPIECES!

A way to contribute

Craft Hope for Haiti Shop Spreading seeds of hope one stitch at a time

Noodle and Lou have just posted about a wonderful venture called Craft Hope. They have created an etsy store that crafters can donate goods to in order to help with the huge crisis in Haiti. All sales go towards Doctors without Boarders. It's such a fantastic idea! I can't imagine the horror that everyone is going through over there and the sense of helplessness. It's so sad and somewhat surreal. My prayers are with them all :(

At a loss :(

Sad : picture of worried dummy sitting with copy space Stock Photo

Tonight i found out that i have been knocked back yet again for a Market. I usually shrug it off and try to keep positive but this time it hurts. I sometimes wonder whether I should just pack it all in. I've had my label for nearly 10 years now. It was quite successful in the beginning however after having the girls I just couldn't do it all so I stopped. Now I am trying to re-establish myself and it's HARD. The handmade market is enormous now. And I'm such a little fish.

What to do :(

My finished earring stand

With binder stuck to my hands and some burns from the hot glue gun, I've finished my earring stand. I enjoy making these little houses. This one features scrap papers from a book carving, old Polish, Czech and english stamps, vintage gold trims, faux moss, tea bags, wire and scrapbooking paper. Normally my houses are more colourful and childlike, incorporating vintage illustrations, ribbon bows and butterflies. However this one will be used for my jewellery so in a way i had to make it a little more "grown up" (this can be quite hard for me to do!)

I hope everyone is keeping cool with this heatwave. We've been spending our days at the local pool for the girls swimming lessons. It's such a nice place! It's simple with a kids pool and a 50m pool. There is grass areas all around shaded by the thickest trees so there is plenty of room to sit and have a picnic (we had chicken and mayo sangas today and LOTS of watermelon). I'm not a fan of hot days. I'm a winter girl at heart (well....Autumn anyways).

Take care all

What I'm working on today

I've decided that this year Saturdays are dedicated to fiddling around with my ideas. I've been thinking about creating new earring displays for a while now as I want to preserve my antique holders for as long as possible. I thought I'd play around with cardboard, vintage paper, teabags and wire. It's coming along nicely :)

I'm hoping to get it all done by tonight as hubby is working nightshift. I have only Obi to keep me company and all he does is flop on the lounge and snore (I swear they were separated at birth!)

I'll make sure I post pictures of the end product.

Have a lovely weekend! xxx

New tweets in store soon

I'm in the process of finishing off some new tweets for the shop. Above are the ones that Amelia and Haidee received for Christmas from mummy. They treasure them which really warms my heart. I'm determined to be more organised in 2010. Last year was hectic for my little family! Now that we have settled into our country life I can breathe a little easier.

I'll keep you posted about the tweets and some other exciting things that I'm fiddling around with!

My favourite kind of visitor

Rylstone is looking so pretty. It's been a long time since I've seen green on the hills. It's such a lovely change from the crunchy brown grass that fuelled the fire before Christmas!

Pssst..........New things in store too.
