Yay for me!

Not long ago I won a give away from the beautiful Kellie over at Ada and Darcy in collaboration with Charlotte from Plum Pretty Sugar. This is what was sent to me in the mail...

Plum pretty Sugar Robe

I look way hotter in it though....(sure Alisa, you keep telling yourself that!)

Thankyou so much Kellie and Charlotte, I absolutely love it!

I have never been lucky with these things in the past (the only thing I can ever remember winning is a huge bucket of Attiki Yogurt when I was in primary school), however since I started blogging I have been blessed with winning a couple of things. I'm feeling the love people! And for that reason I am preparing a giveaway of my own.....Stay tuned!

Now I'm off for my cuppa wearing my gorgeous robe....I might even put on a tiara.

A good day for sketching and collage

Today I'm determined to have a relaxing day fiddling around with drawing and glueing in my little sketch book.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend

The beauty of old books

If you haven't already guessed...I love old books. I love the look of them, the intoxicating smell they excude, the worn paper and most importantly reading from them. I find that when I read from an old book I am transported to a different era. Not just mentally, but physically too. Just knowing that these books were treasured by someone long ago, and are now treasured by me, binds me to their past.

I feel a sense of sadness when I find them discarded and feel obligated to save them. For example, my latest find.....

It was sitting in a foam box at the local tip, under a stack of other books. It's quite worn and unassuming on the outside....

But hidden within, a real treasure!

I am in the process of reading it and I must say it is such a lovely story.

Amazing isn't it?

So I implore all of you to head out and look for these old books. They still have so much to say!

Finds of the week

A complete Royal Doulton "Kingswood" Dinner set (and when I say complete, i mean the lot! Bowls, tea cups and saucers, dinner plates, bread plates etc.) for a mere $6.

and a sweet little book of bible stories with lovely illustrations.

I can't get over the abundance of goodies that are found in the second hand places here. I guess the saying is true, one persons trash is another ones treasure!

Had to share this....

A friend of mine posted this on facebook and I just had to share. It gave me a giggle! It gets funny around the 58 second mark :)

Have a great day!

Beautiful bridal headpiece

This is one of my favourite ones. It's a bold piece that is inspired by the work of Alphonse Mucha.
I've embellished the lace with swarovski crystals and vintage faux pearls. The roses are of a rich cream satin and organza, with burnt edging. The back of the piece is decorated with gorgeous cream and pale green velvet hydrangea blooms. Perfect for a bride who wants something both nostalgic and different. Or if your like me, just to wear out and about :)

I have to thank my friend Amber for being my model and my sis who took some photos for me. Love you both very much!

I'll be listing some new things on etsy in the next week, including an amazing turquoise, pearl and coral necklace that I'm incredibly chuffed with!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
