"Arlecchino"

I thought I'd play catch up and show you all some recent paintings that I have been working on. Below is "Arlecchino" A painting intended for my new kitchen (if ever it get's done). It's a fairly large piece that's painted on a recycled canvas which we discovered in the shed here when we first moved (hence why I can't sell it). I really enjoyed painting this one as it was a shift from my usual style. It's very bright and has several layers and textures.  "Arlecchino" references The harlequin pattern that is repeated throughout the work.
Anywho, I hope you like it too.

Autumn Heart

My favourite season for inspiration! I love collecting tid-bits on our family walks, then coming home to arrange them into pictures to start painting watercolours. Aren't the colours divine?

Sharing the inner city chick with my country girls

Hello there! Yes I know, I've been M.I.A over the past few months. But I'm back, feeling refreshed and ready to share :)

These past holidays I took my girls down to my childhood home of Balmain, Sydney. I wanted to share with them the simple pleasures that I enjoyed as a child. Every afternoon would be spent in Ewenton Park, climbing the huge fig tree that had a makeshift loft made from old wooden boards. There was also a wicked rope swing that I loved to play on (this is no longer there, I assume because of public liability). I showed them the sandstone walls that frame the Harbour and let them discover the creatures that live amongst the cracks and crevices. It was so beautiful to see my little girls soaking up all the beauty of my special place. My country girls, completely mesmerized by the mass of water before them and the huge shiny buildings. It's funny how places can change so much but still be the same.

We also visited China Town and enjoyed a ride on the Merry-Go-Round at Darling Harbour before heading home via a Sydney Ferry. Oh how I miss the Ferries! We caught a movie at the Cinemas, enjoying movie popcorn (yum!) and spending quality time with Nonna and Paddy, Uncle Macca and Uncle Jimbo.

We only got to stay for a few days. Their favourite part?  My tree.

I'll be with you all again soon. Pinky promise.
